Maternal Deaths Down

This article was so great to read about because I feel like in an age of such incredible technology and education something like this should not even be an issue.
It is so incredibly to hear of a woman dying because of such a beautiful process, whether her body could not withstand the pressure or people around her were simply inadequate and unable to address the situation at hand.
My favorite part about the article- the stress that it's still a HUGE issue and wow is it ever with almost 342,900 deaths during childbirth globally.
What can we be doing better to change this trend? AIDS is said to account for 60,000 of these deaths so is education the answer or maybe better training for those in the medical profession? Thoughts and comments welcome
